MC5 Music & Memory Certification

In 2016, MC5 was awarded a grant from the Department of Health and Senior Services to engage 24 healthcare organizations in the Music & Memory Program. The program provided instruction from Dan Cohen, the founder of the Music & Memory program (www.musicandmemory.org). Participants were provided education and materials such as Apple iPods and iTunes cards. Many organizations also had devices donated and included multiple staff in downloading music favorites for their residents and clients. Participants were then showcased at the annual MC5 convention in Columbia, Missouri, where they shared their successes and failures, enjoyed a live musical session, and facilitated a discussion with attendees about incorporating Music & Memory into their programs. It was a great success and a program MC5 is proud to have brought to Missouri’s hospice, adult day care, veterans, and residents of SNFs, ALFs, and RCFs.
