“Person-Centered Approach to Sexuality of Persons Living with Dementia”
Presented by Angie Keeven, LMSW, LNHA
Sexual expression and the desire for intimacy does not stop when a person moves to a long-term care community. Moreover, a person retains the right to address this important aspect of their life regardless of where they live. This presentation will provide advice on safely honoring the rights to sexuality and intimacy for residents living with dementia. Attendees will learn to distinguish between intimacy and sexual expression and understand the challenges of honoring sexuality for persons living with dementia, including identifying hypersexuality, pharmaceutical approaches and the education of family members.
